Thank you for purchasing Spectre-VR for DOS and Windows. There are a few
issues that must be addressed that didn't make it into the manual:
1. Windows users: If you are using an ATI video card or a video card
that controls bitmaps with the hardware, be sure you have hardware
control of bitmaps turned off in the Windows driver.
2. If you have a Cyberman 3d Mouse from Logitech, read the file
CYBERMN.DOC for information on how Spectre-VR is controlled by
this mouse.
3. There is a bonus network game not documented called Moral Combat,
in which you score points for hitting your opponent, but you lose
all your points if you kill them.
4. To achieve best performance on high-speed modems, play either at
2400 baud or turn off modem packetizing at 9600 baud. Consult your
modem manual for more on how to do this.
5. If you don't have a joystick plugged in, turning on the joystick in
Windows may cause the system to lock. Reboot, and don't turn on the
joystick. This will be fixed in the update.
6. Ammo dumps, shield pickups, and anti grav packs pickups are not
always color coded, but sometimes they change color, so be careful!
7. The "coast" ability of the tank is no longer supported.
8. When playing network games, you lose your shields and must get new
ones each time your opponent gets killed.
9. Windows users: if you encounter problems at startup, you may not be
able to play the Quicktime movie. To disable this, go into your
MOVIES sub-directory and rename STARTUP.MOV.
